Cricket 07 profile names: clearer save controls and updated help
On October 28, 2026, we updated the game’s keyboard hints and the help pages on Cricket07.net to make saving a profile easier to follow. The game engine and native save format are unchanged. Existing installations and saves stay in the same browser.
Type the name first, then press Enter
Ordinary game menus use S to select and W to go back. On the native name-entry screen, those keys enter letters. After typing the name, press Enter to confirm it.
- Open My Cricket → Load/Save → Save, choose Profile, and select New.
- Use Backspace to clear the default name if you want to replace it.
- Type your profile name, using up to seven characters in this tested Profile field.
- Press Enter and wait for Save complete before leaving the game.
The default name Prof_0 already uses six characters, leaving room for only one more. A name that stops accepting letters may have reached that limit. Other native save types can have different limits.
What we checked
In desktop Chrome tests on October 28, we cleared the default and entered asdw23, saved it through the original game, cancelled a second new profile, and returned to the launcher. After restarting, the game showed asdw23 as the active profile. The saved file contents stayed identical after cancellation and restart. These checks passed locally, on the preview and on the public site.
Our initial investigation interpreted the shortened name as an A/S/D/W conflict. Clearing the default and checking the seven-character limit explained that result. The published change corrects the instructions and hints.
A note on the batting timing gauge
In our limited Barbados exhibition test, the batting timing indicator appeared and moved when enabled, and disappeared when disabled. We have not verified its timing accuracy or every camera, mode and device. The Ashes second Test / second challenge rain scenario remains unverified.
Keep a separate save backup
Use Export saves on the launcher for a separate backup. Refreshing cannot recover an unsaved live match, and clearing browser site data can remove local saves. Read the updated controls, first-match guide and troubleshooting help for the full steps.
